About Champagne Pools and Spas

Champagne Pools has been designing, building, servicing and renovating pools in the Central Florida area since 1978. Originally founded by Peter Manley, Champagne Pools is now run by Peter's son Michael Manley, along with Richard Moseley, vice president of operations.

From the time when Peter Manley first opened the doors, the goal has always been to provide the highest quality pool possible to fit within a customer’s budget. Compromising on quality or ease of maintenance is never an option. That's why Champagne Pools includes the following items as standard features on all their pools:

  • Efficient pool plumbing - Pool piping can comprise 20% of total electricity use.
    • High efficiency oversized-filters keep your pool cleaner, require less frequent cleaning, and use less electricity. Smaller filters make the pump work harder, use more electricity, and suffer more wear and tear.  Where most other builders use a 100 ft.³ to 250 ft.³ filter, we use a minimum of 340 ft.³ filtration system on every pool.
    • Smaller pipe is cheaper for the builder, but will cost you more in the long run.  Where most builders will run 1 1/2 inch plumbing, we use a minimum 2’’ plumbing on return sides, and 2 1/2’’ on all suction sides.
  • Our new energy efficient multispeed pumps save as much a 70% compared to the typical 1.5 hp single-speed pumps that most pool builders use.
  • Our "Passive solar heating” circulation system provides better heat distribution and chemical distribution.  This is built-in at the time of construction at no extra cost to the homeowner.

In-floor cleaning and many other low maintenance features are available on all our pool designs.

Michael Manley and Richard Mosley are both licensed and certified to build pools in the state of Florida. Both have been active members of the Florida Spa and Pool Association "FSPA" and the International Association of Pool and Spa Professionals (APSP) for many years.  In fact, Michael Manley was the youngest member ever to hold the position of chairman for the FSPA.

10 Reasons You're Better Off With a Champagne Pool

  1. Champagne is the Central Florida Member of Aquatech - We're part of an exclusive society of top-notch pool builders from across the country who work together to share our knowledge and talents for the common good. Aquatech® will accept no builder other than those who meet their strict standards for quality construction, business ethics, and impeccable reputations. Out of ten thousand pool builders in North America, fewer than 200 have been invited to join Aquatech®. (We're one of only seven in all of Florida).

  2. Extensive Showroom - We're not working out of the back of a pick-up truck here. We have more than 500 tiles, pavers, water features, and other options on display in our showroom on Benchmark Lane. You can see, touch, and feel the materials before you make your choices.

  3. Strong Warrantees - Every pool comes with a Lifetime Warranty on the shell and the in-ground plumbing. The pump, filter, valves, light, PDA, and deck all come with a three-year warranty (triple the industry standard).

  4. Low-Maintenance, Energy-Efficient Construction - From oversized plumbing and filters to energy-efficient pumps, lights and heaters, to our "Passive Solar" return lines, A Champagne pool costs less to own and takes less time to maintain.

  5. Winner of 60 Design and Craftsmanship Awards - It's one thing to say you build a great pool. It's quite another to have other experts from around the industry compare your pools to others, and hand the award to you. We're at 60 awards and counting...

  6. Recognized Leaders in the Industry - Our president Michael Manley and vice-president Richard Moseley have both been active in the industry, serving on the boards of the National Swimming Pool Association (NSPI), the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals (APSP), and the Florida Swimming Pool Association (FSPA). Michael spent three years as the National Vice President of NSPI.

  7. Top 50 Builder - Champagne Pools has been recognized as a "Top 50 Pool Builder" on five separate occasions by Pool and Spa News magazine. But we're still a "family atmosphere." You'll see that that the minute our receptionist Ann answers the phone.

  8. NSPI Hall of Fame - In recognition of his contributions to the industry, Michael Manley is one of only a handful of pool builders who has been inducted into the NSPI "Hall of Fame" and the International Swimming Pools Hall of Fame.

  9. Champagne is a Second-Generation Family Business - Serving more than 4000 homeowners over the last 30 years, Champagne is one of only five pool builders in Central Florida that have been in business for 30 years or more.

  10. Member of BBB - Champagne is an Accredited BBB member with a rating of "Excellent."

Our Construction Process

If you're not familiar with pool construction, then check out this video and become an expert in less than 10 minutes. Or check out this photo sequence from one of our many happy customers.

Champagne Pools and Spas - Our Contruction Process

The first thing we do before we start your project is to give you an expected completion date. That way, you know right up front how long it is going to take.

Production Schedule

  1. Pool construction usually begins 2-4 weeks after permits are issued.
  2. From the day of the dig, the completion of the plaster is usually in about 6-8 weeks.
  3. Pavers, rock work, or walls may add another 2-4 weeks to the schedule.
  4. A screen enclosure may also add an extra 2-4 weeks to the schedule.

12 Steps of Construction

  1. Preconstruction
The preconstruction step includes finalizing the design, securing the building permit, and making sure the site has been properly prepared.

  2. Excavation
Once the design is finalize, excavation begins and our experience craftsmen go to work. Your pool will be marked in orange paint and any fences, trees or stubs in the way must be hauled away. If you have yard sprinklers, they must be turned off and re-routed as necessary.

  3. Initial Plumbing
Next, the initial plumbing is installed. This includes running the pipes for the filters, the main drains and any passive solar systems. If you've opted for an in-floor cleaning system, the plumbing for this will be installed at this time as well.

  4. Steel Framework
Next, the steel reinforcing frameworks in installed. Our steel designs are approved by a certified engineer before this step begins. This is also the time we take care of the electrical bonding or grounding of the shell and equipment.

  5. Concrete Shell
Next, and perhaps the most exciting step, is the application of the concrete. Also known as shotcrete or gunite, the concrete is pneumatically applied by a trained professional. It's exciting to watch as your new pool starts to take shape. This is also when we will build your steps in the shallow end, any loveseats or benches, and any other custom features.

  6. Deck Preparation
When the concrete shell is completed, we will level the ground around the pools, remove the wood forms and remove any sod from the areas where the deck will be installed.

  7. Completing the Final Plumbing
Now it is time to complete the plumbing work. We will set your equipment in place and complete the plumbing between it and your pool.

  8. Electrical Wiring
Next, we complete the electrical work. If needed, an electrical panel is installed. Then all lights, switches, special features and control systems will be connected to the circuit breakers.

  9. Installing the Tile
Now it is time to install the tile around the perimeter of the pool. This is also when we will put your new skimmers in place.

  10. Installing the deck
Next, your new deck is installed. This could be pavers, stamped concrete, natural stone or some other custom finish.

  11. Applying the Interior Finish
The pool interior is hand-troughed and water proofed. Then, the final finish is applied. That may be white or colored plaster or marcite depending on what you ordered. Or, it may be one of the stunning new aggregate finishes such as pebble-tec. You have a lot of options to choose from. Also at this time, any surface hardware will be installed. This includes skimmer covers, main drain covers, in-floor cleaners and return caps.

  12. Pool Startup
Finally, it is time for your pools start-up and pool school. One of our service professionals will schedule a time to meet with you at your new pool. At that time, they will explain all of the operations and functions of the pool and answer any questions you might have. After that, the only thing left is for you to start swimming and enjoy your new Champagne Pool

The Champagne Pools "No Pressure Buying Process”

We understand that buying a swimming pool is a big decision for any family.  We also know that some families take weeks, months, or even years to make a final decision.  We’re okay with that.  We’ll help you whenever we can, but we will never try to pressure you into a sale.  That's why we created the Champagne Pools "No Pressure Buying Process."  At all stages of the buying process, you are in control.  We will proceed to the next step only if and when you tell us you're ready to proceed.

The Champagne Pools "No Pressure Buying Process”

If that's the way you hoped to be treated, then you're in good hands. If you were expecting a high-pressure sales guy to “strong-arm” you into buying a pool, then we think you'll be pleasantly surprised with our No-pressure approach. Here's how it works:

  1. Think about what kind of pool you want
    1. Review our website, our portfolio, and our free DVD.  Make a note of any particular pools or water features that you like.

    2. Feel free to look at our competitors’ websites as well. (They've never built anything we can't build!)

    3. If you see a pool in a magazine and book or newspaper, save a copy of that too.

  2. Get some expert advice
    1. Telephone - we can discuss some ideas right over the phone if you like.

    2. Backyard meeting - one of our designers will be happy to look at your backyard, and share some ideas with you.

  3. Get a preliminary design and bid
    1. If you've got an idea of what you're looking for, our designers can create a custom design for you.

    2. If you have a specific budget in mind, let the designer know, so that he can recommend the appropriate features and options.

  4. Fine-tune your design
    1. You may want to add or remove or certain features

    2. You can choose your tile choices, deck choices and other specific features at this time.

  5. Decide if you want to buy this pool
    1. a simple proposal outlines exactly what your new pool is going to look like, and what it's going to cost

    2. small down payment - we can reserve your build slot with a simple $1000 good-faith down payment

    3. schedule your start date - it's time to decide when you want the process to begin.

    4. It normally takes between 45 and 75 days to complete your new pool, depending on weather and the complexity of the project.

Remember, with the Champagne Pools "No Pressure Buying Process", you are always in control. We look forward to serving you.

Child Rescue Network

Champagne Pools Supports

I learned something amazing from one of my clients recently. She told me that every 41 seconds, a child is reported missing somewhere in this country. That adds up to more than 2100 kids a day! Then she told me about the Child Rescue Network, a nonprofit group formed specifically to advocate for the protection of children.

Having children of my own, I am 100% in support of this concept. That's why, through the year 2011, we are contributing $50 of every pool sale and pool renovation to the Child Rescue Network. If you would like to know more about their operation, you can check out the CRN website here.
